Creator Spotlight: Braziliance (Charlton Athletic)
Welcome to our latest Creator Spotlight, a series dedicated to celebrating the voices shaping modern fan media and introducing supporters to the people behind and in front of the camera. Each feature takes a closer look at the passion, commitment and creativity that drives fan-led football content.
This week, we caught up with Braziliance a Charlton Athletic focussed YouTube channel delivering home and away match day vlogs capturing the raw emotion and authentic fan storytelling that defines the modern supporter experience.
Here’s what he had to say…
1. What made you start creating football content?
I have always had a passion for content creation and editing. I love creating a story. My first time watching football vlogs was Davo's Diary aka DavoBirmingham when he visited Charlton in2014. One of the best UK based vloggers in the football scene, he was a real inspiration for me how he captured Birmingham City's fans.
I am also a massive fan of PieFace and have been for over a decade. I used both of these gents as my inspiration.
2. How long have you supported your club, and what’s your earliest or favourite memory of being a fan?
I have been a Charlton fan since I was 10. My first game was Charlton Vs Arsenal at the Valley, we beat them 1 nil, the rest is history.
3. What do you enjoy most about making content for fellow fans?
The friendship and the connections I make along the way. It makes me immensely proud how much people enjoy my content, I could honestly cry sometimes at the kindness, as I have never been good at many things in life.
There's probably too many things to mention, but some of the highlights have been the Charlton players saying they watch and enjoy the vlogs to me, the older generation saying they are proud of how I represent our club, and my YouTube videos being a part of their morning routine, and finally, the younger Charlton fans. It makes my day when the younger fans come over and speak with me, kids will always tell the truth, so when they tell me they like my content, I take their word for it! I truly hope I am inspiring a future Charlton content creator, that's something I would be immensely proud of.
4. If you could fix ONE thing about modern football, what would it be and why?
Football ticket prices. It's the working man's/woman's sport, and the prices should reflect that. Passionate fans who have been supporting their clubs their whole lives, are being priced out further up the football pyramid, it needs to stop.
5.Matchday routine — any superstitions?
Actually, none to be honest. I actively avoid having superstitions, as I don't want to get caught in a vicious cycle of always having to do it, I worry enough as it is haha.
6.What’s the one thing fans would be surprised to learn about you?
Not much to be honest, I believe I am fairly transparent with my content and make myself quite vulnerable on camera during the good and bad times. I suppose my dream which is to be a film director, maybe that might surprise some people?
7.Your club in ONE word — go.
Resilient.
8.What do you want fans to takeaway from watching your content?
That we are one big family. Going to football is more than just a game, it's home away from home, and it's your family away from your family. Take your time to speak to those around you, each individual has a story and a uniqueness about them. You just never know who you're standing or sitting next to.
Ultimately I just aim to be my unfiltered self, and hope people appreciate that.
