Welcome to our latest Creator Spotlight, a series dedicated to celebrating the voices shaping modern fan media and introducing supporters to the people behind and in front of the camera. Each feature takes a closer look at the passion, commitment and creativity that drives fan-led football content.
This week, we caught up with Ryan from Huddersfield Town Fan TV. A fan channel hosting live match preview & review shows, daily videos and the occasional match day vlog all dedicated to #HTAFC
Here’s what he had to say…
1. What made you start creating football content?
I have areal passion for football and following my favourite club, Huddersfield Town. Talking about football is something I really enjoy and gives me an escape from reality, I feel like I'm in my element in front of the camera and being creative as I can with my content ideas.
2. How long have you supported your club, and what’s your earliest or favourite memory of being a fan?
I have supported Town since I was small. My favourite moment has to be seeing us get promoted to the Premier League in the Play Off Final at Wembley against Reading in 2017.
3. What do you enjoy most about making content for fellow fans?
I think there are many things, firstly having that sense of making an impact having a satisfaction in knowing my content can entertain, educate or inspire others, even if in small ways. Other things like personal growth building on my skills and always striving to improve, having a shared passion, a sense of community, creative expression.
4. If you could fix ONE thing about modern football, what would it be and why?
The amount of money in the game now as I feel it has ruined the integrity of the game.
5. Matchday routine — any superstitions?
At home games I find myself picking a turnstile number that feels lucky to me on that day and plus when entering the concourse area, I have to go through the door to the left as it feels lucky to me.
6. What’s the one thing fans would be surprised to learn about you?
I think the fact that I’m actually a very nervous person away from the screen in the ‘outside world’ and anxiety that impacts me a lot before I record or go live on my channel.
7. Your club in ONE word — go.
Passion
8. What do you want fans to take away from watching your content?
Ultimately I want them to feel like watching my content was time well spent and leave with a positive impression
